What’s With The Archive?

At the end of 2024 I embarked on a project that would result in this archive. Drag is a classic and unique artform that has existed for thousands of years; however, historically it has only been celebrated when cisgender people do it. Impressed by the quality and creativity of the hundreds of performances I had seen over the years, I wanted to celebrate these talented entertainers. While many performers have their friends or partners take photos and videos of their performances, that is not always the case. Acts that people poured countless hours and resources into for the sake of their community’s enjoyment alone, with some added bonuses like several dollars or pride in their showmanship. I embarked on this project with the desire to capture and preserve the vibrancy and culture of local drag scenes. In a world where the televised drag of Drag Race is becoming more expensive and exclusionary to the queens, kings, and things with 9 to 5s (or often no job at all), I wanted to provide a service for the community that celebrates their art. All photographs taken by me and posted on this website are entirely free and you may do with them what you want, all I ask is to be tagged or given credit for taking the photos.

Why Support Monetarily?

This website costs money to run, and the cost will likely rise with inflation and the more traffic it gets. Supporting the website helps to keep this project alive and easily accessible to the community it was created to serve. It also enables me to dedicate more time to the website and flesh more things out. In the future, I intend to begin doing more videography content and more curated photography projects. Additionally, supporting the site enables me to continue hosting the additional resources hosted on the website. This includes: playlists consisting of mental health resources, information on gender-affirming providers, opportunities for activism, and more.

Why Support Me?

While I would love to be able to fund this website myself, I am still a graduate student that is paying to continue going to school. Most of my money goes straight to rent and bills. I have had mild success with prior fundraising initiatives, but not to the extent that is needed. Supporting me allows me to keep hosting the site and allowing me to continue working toward providing more resources for the LGBTQ+ community.
